October 5th Autumn Wild Mushroom Foray in Montpelier, VT

WHERE: Montpelier, VT - Specific location in Montpelier will be shared with registered attendees by Friday, 10/4 at 5pm EST

Join Ari Rockland-Miller of The Mushroom Forager, LLC in a program introducing fall’s wild mushrooms. The workshop will feature a guided foray in Montpelier with an eye towards autumn gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. Attendees will be introduced to foraging safety, strategy, sustainability and ethics. All attendees will receive a ForageCast™ handout highlighting distinctive and gourmet seasonal wild mushrooms.

Participants should dress for hiking in the woods and bring water. This program is fully outdoors and will be held rain or shine unless the weather presents a safety hazard such as t-storms.

Registration is required and space is limited*. Please note that we will not be harvesting beyond educational specimens.

About the instructor:

Ari Rockland-Miller is a writer, instructor and lecturer on wild and cultivated mushrooms and edible plants. He is co-founder of the Mushroom Forager, LLC and an ardent mycophile who enjoys nothing more than the exhilarating feeling of the mushroom hunt. Ari has been sharing his passion for mushroom hunting and edible plants through the written word for over a decade. His writing has been featured in a number of publications including the Vermont Almanac, Northern Woodlands, Edible Vermont and the Green Mountain Club's Long Trail News. The Mushroom Forager's work has also been featured on CNN's Great Big Story, New England Public Radio, Vermont Public Radio, Seven Days and Vermont Life magazine.

Ari became an expert in cultivating shiitake mushrooms in agroforestry systems when he managed Cornell University's Mushroom Research Project and Cornell University's agroforestry teaching site and farm, the MacDaniels Nut Grove. He has a B.A. from Brown University, and a J.D. from Vermont Law School.
